An Introduction to CLAWS
The Centre for Land Warfare Studies was formally established on January 15, 2004.
CLAWS has been established as an independent Think- Tank, devoted to the promotion and furtherance of intellectual thinking
in the art, science and literature on all disciplines of land warfare. Our vision is to be a pioneer in futuristic thinking
about all aspects of land warfare, as they relate to operations within our region.
The Centre hopes to attract leading strategic thinkers, defence analysts, academicians and media persons, to deliberate over
every facet of land warfare, from the minuscule to the mega, so that it can be disseminated to the professionals of the armed
forces, as well as to all citizens of our Nation. The effort would be to develop a strategic culture in general and professional
nuances in particular, so that the armed forces, the bureaucracy and the political leadership, on the one hand; and the academia,
the intellectuals and the man on the street, on the other; benefit from it.
The Centre intends to interact closely with government and non-governmental organisations dealing with security issues. These
include Service Headquarters, the Ministries of Defence, External Affairs and Home, as also institutions akin to CLAWS, within
the country and abroad, for better and in-depth understanding of issues, both current and futuristic.
Management
CLAWS is a registered literary society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Registrar of Societies, Delhi
Government.
The management of CLAWS is vested in a Board of Governors and an Executive Council comprising ex-officio members.
