Brig Gurmeet Kanwal was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in 1972. A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College.
He had held a number of prestigious staff and instructional appointments during his Army service.
After his retirement, he resides at New Delhi, and devotes considerable time in writing for newspapers and professional magazines,
participating in seminars and panel discussions, and delivering lectures, mostly on security related issues and international
relations.
He has recently set up the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), of which he is the Director.
